Tuesday, April 03, 2007 Y 1:15 PM yesterday, i went over to jieling's house for tuition around 8 after my channel U korean show. i was actually supposed to go over at 7:30pm but the show got me engrossed. heh. so i was practically rushing over and i forgot to bring my calculator, test papers, worksheets etc etc. blah. so got to rush back to collect them again. moral of the story is that it doesn't really help if you rush; you might end up making things worse. something funny happened during our tuition yesterday. "so this is equals to this and you must reduce the fractions....." "can i ask you something?" "yes? what subject?" *wrote something on small whiteboard* "what's this huh, jie jie?" *lean over and look* and hello, the word "sex" smack right in the centre of the whiteboard. what exactly are kids learning these days? when i was their age (ok, i sound so old), i go around telling people babies comes from those white storks with long beak, hanging babies in a pure white or sweet pink sling and drop it through the chimney to mommies & daddies who are sound asleep at night (as if they never do anything for the babies). why do i have this stupid concept? too much dose of disney channels and tom & jerry la. ![]() i only know about the real thing at around primary 5 that storks don't deliver babies, they don't hang a gay coloured sling around their beak like a retard, they're animals for god sake not delivery man, and they eat fishes. AND (big news!) mommies and daddies will do sth for babies! and further details are slowly registered in my brain when i enter secondary school, where the guys such as junda, alex, daniel, benjamin, wei jun, jian lun happily discuss aloud in class. i mean, please lah. i am not slow to know about the actual thing in primary 5 ok, given that i still believe in santa claus and write to "him" for presents during christmas all the way till primary 6 until my mom told me it was her all the time. of course, i was blatantly embarrassed by her sudden outburst of the sexual topic. I know about this kinda thing obviously but how do i put it in words as innocent-looking as possible? i don't want to pollute a little girl's mind afterall. so i simply answered... "married couples have sex to have babies lor." "ya la, but how?" mind you, i added the "lor" to give her the image that it really no big deal though i find it a huge deal. and after i said that, i start to wonder about the actual fact. first, only married couples have sex? don't think so. second, do people have sex just to have babies? don't think so too. so it's so hard to give her a definition lah. and plus her question on how, well, many ways. "ai yah. you will know when you grow up. back to the maths question......." "tsk. never mind. i will check the dictionary myself." go ahead. save me the trouble and the blushing. btw, the definition for sex in dictionary is: –noun 1. either the male or female division of a species, esp. as differentiated with reference to the reproductive functions. 2. the sum of the structural and functional differences by which the male and female are distinguished, or the phenomena or behavior dependent on these differences. 3. the instinct or attraction drawing one sex toward another, or its manifestation in life and conduct. as if she can understand. well well, kids nowadays. |
