Thursday, July 30, 2009 Y 10:34 PM Bernerd organised potluck at our house today (or yesterday in Australia's time). I really enjoyed everyone's company and the crowd in the house! Many people came over with dishes to share and just chit chat and have fun. I guess that's the only activity we can do at night in Ipswich. No late night shopping or supper because of the short opening hours. We had Celery with prawns and crab meat salad (contributed by Bernerd), Potatos with Onions and Eggs (contributed by Tian Chuang and Yijin), Bittergourd with meat (contributed by Evelyn), Pancakes (contributed by Gabriel), cupcakes (contributed by yingrui and Shin Le) and of course, pizza from us. Eileen, Evan, Lawrence, Aaron and his girlfriend, dropped by to say hi too. After dinner, we gathered in front of the television and watched 'Taken'. haha. The girls were all so frightened and paranoid after the movie. oh wells. Time to sleep. Glad I've finished my financial management homework yesterday so tmr I can focus on having fun instead of being tied down to my study desk! wheee! Good night! Wednesday, July 29, 2009 Y 7:15 PM My Tourism & Leisure Behaviour lecturer looks like Dumbledore! He is such a sweet and cute old man. haha. My muscles are aching now because of the netball yesterday! So terrible that I can't even walk without looking like an old woman. Jing Ting, Poh Suan and Perlin are also feeling the same thing. Anyway, joke of the day. Poh Suan bought a small carton of juice from Coles this afternoon. She complained it was wayyy too sweet at the first sip and asked Perlin if she wanna try it. Perlin said no, so Poh Suan continued drinking from the carton happily, still commenting it was very very sweet after every sip. After drinking like, 100ml of it,Poh Suan insisted that Perlin should try. And she did! Guess what. Perlin turned the carton to look at the nutritional values and there was instructions above the chart. 'Mix concentrate with 2 litres of water' HAHAHA. Tuesday, July 28, 2009 Y 9:08 PM Shoot! I scraped my knee! Jing Ting, Poh Suan, Perlin and I played netball with several friends whom we got to know in Australia just now. It's just plain crazy to play netball in the cold, but REALLY fun! And you won't sweat! Played for 3 hours from 6pm to 9pm. Aaron and Gabriel drove us home after the game. This activity will be a weekly thing to meet up with each other and have some fun and exercise. Glad we met these people. I'm exhausted now. zzz. Need some rest to be fresh for tmr's lecture! p.s. today's financial management lecture was a total blur. I think I need to start reading up on it soon before I get too lost to be impossible. okay, photos time. These are random photos which I saved from Facebook from other girls' cameras btw, because I didn't take any photos today. And oh wells, photos copied from Facebook totally explains the quality. Grainy and blur, but better than nothing I guess. Good night all. <3 Monday, July 27, 2009 Y 6:50 PM G'day mate! Today is the first day of school! Okay, I can't help sounding like a kid but new school term always makes me feel excited! But Qiaofei, Jing Ting and I only had Business Law lecture today from 3pm to 5pm. Kinda glad that school is just 5 minutes away, otherwise it is so troublesome to travel to school just for 2 hours lecture! Perlin's and Poh Suan's lecture started at 4pm, so Perlin took up the 'Mother' role by sending we 3 off to school. Perlin: 'Bye girls! Hope you girls will have a good day in school!' We 3: 'okay! See you tonight!' All: *hugssss* *palm stacking cheer* hahaha. Really funny. Learnt about civil law and common law, Australian Legal System, relationship between law & justice, law & politics as well as law & ethics... oh wells. After lecture, we rushed home to cook dinner. Sooo motherly. sighhs. Anyway, photos time! Perlin wanted to cut her fringe before school so... hahaha. Frightened Perlin with Poh Suan assuring her it will be nice. Action time! We found this condom vending machine in school! 0.O Jingting, Qiaofei and I <3 We saw Wing Him going for her lecture while we were walking back home at 5:30pm. Jing Ting, Wing Him and I just in front of Unilink. Qiao Fei feeding Winghim with details of her 1st day in school. Jing Ting and I. Alrighty. Financial Management lecture tmr. See you guys around! Sunday, July 26, 2009 Y 2:17 PM G'day mate! We woke up early today to make pancakes for breakfast. Tasted average, I still prefer Mom's pancakes. After breakfast, we walked to Ipswich Showground. Ever seen in western movies those carnival-like event, with booths lining the pavement, selling secondhand or new toys, clothes, books, pets etc.? That's what Showground is like. I kinda like that place because it gives that mysterious feeling - like if you dig hard enough, you can actually unearth many good buys and interesting stuffs. Jing Ting and I bought 2 second hand Nicholas Sparks books for AUD$3 each! I forgot my camera this morning so didn't manage to take any photos of the Showground. It's okay, more Sundays to come. Oh, and we are planning to watch the Lennon Brother's circus in August at the Showground! School starting tomorrow. Kinda excited! Love all. Saturday, July 25, 2009 Y 11:52 AM Hello! I hit my head against the wall just now! Right now I'm trying to make the pain subside with a bag of ice on my head. Looking real silly. I was clearing some winter clothes because the weather is not that cold anymore. Then I thought I could stuff these into the top shelf in my wardrobe, so I stood on a box and the box collapsed! So I fell back and hit my head real loud and sat on the ground waiting for Jing Ting to save me. hahaha. She came running into my room! awww. So touched. Anyway, we had a really fun evening yesterday at Bernerd's house. Gabriel drove us there from Unilink. I think we cannot survive without a car here. So many areas we haven't explore and the houses in Ipswich looks haunted at night. haha. He invited loads of friends of different nationalities together. There were people from Hong Kong, Singapore, China, Peru and Malaysia. So we had Hainanese Chicken Rice for dinner and Chocolate Fondue for dessert! woohoo. Master chef for yesterday's dinner was Ray's mother. Played lots of fun games as well. I did so many forfeits which made me look real silly, but was really funny. Jing Ting and Perlin even sang Max 5,6,7 songs during dinner! tehehehe. Perlin's forfeit was to talk! (her talent!) So we gave her a topic on Daniel Chia and she need to continuously talk about him for 2 minutes to people she barely knew. Oh man, that's so funny. Gabriel's forfeit was to do 50 sit ups, and he couldn't do the last one. He looked like a tomato after 40 sit ups. Only got home around 1:30am because we stayed back to help Bernerd clear his kitchen. Gabriel drove us around Yamanto area (because we can't explore! NO CAR! zzz.) and brought us to Limestone Park because Poh Suan asked him to recommend a place to jog. Went back after that (: Photos not with me, will post it up asap once I get it. Anyway, I've got an announcement! I'll be taking double majors! (: We met up with the academic advisor to seek some advice yesterday morning. She said she will encourage us to take double majors, so I called my dad immediately to speak to him. He gave me the green light, so... YAY! Will be taking Travel & Tourism Management, as well as Event Management. School starting this coming Monday. I planned my class to start at 3pm. woohoo. I can sleep real long. 1st lecture is Business Law. Can't wait! Okay, I shall go watch tv. BYE! (: Sunday, July 19, 2009 Y 9:10 PM We had an eventful day today. Firstly, Little Miss Blur Queen, aka yours truely, locked herself outside her own room. I seriously have no idea what I was doing! Okay, before I start my story, I must explain to you guys how the lock system in our house works. All of us have our own rooms. Each of us has a special key, which can access the same main door and our own room, but not the other rooms. To lock the doors in the house, we do not need the key to do so. Simply lock the door by the knob and close the door will do the job. Perlin, Poh Suan, Jing Ting and I were preparing to jog around the estate. I was contemplating whether or not to bring my mobile, keys and camera, but then decided against it. Qiao Fei wanted to stay home to rot so I thought it would be okay for me to leave my keys since there will be someone to open the main door for me. The moment I decided not to bring any stuff, I locked my room door. My bunch of keys, and my newly duplicated one was in my bag! zzz. And the problem is, I didn't even realise until I saw Poh Suan wearing her watch and I wanted to get in my room to get mine. 'OMG! shit! I locked myself out of my bedroom!' *friends staring at me* To make things worse, the management office is closed on weekends! And if I want them to drive down from their house in Gold Coast (1 hour drive) to get me the supplementary key, I will have to pay AUD$35 okay! I really had an urge to pull my brains out at that time. But well, it was pretty funny to see my friends frantically trying to pick the lock with bobby hairpins, and coming up with weird ideas to get me into my room. Eventually, they managed to help me crawl into my room through my bedroom windows by removing the protective wire fence. LUCKILY, I forgot to lock my windows! I must have looked damn CUI at that moment. so... YAY. i'm in my room blogging now. After that tiring help-shuhan-get-back-into-her-room activity, we went jogging and stopped by a park to play with kids in the playground. SO CUTE PLS. hahaha. DAMN FUN lor. we screamed like nobody's business while playing. eh! who is this pretty girl! HAHAHA. jk. perlin, me, jingting. Don't you think we look like we are on a mercy relief mission? HAHA. Ain't she pretty? And she loves pink too! We were all laughing at this photo because Poh Suan really looks like she's on a Mercy Relief Mission lah! The playground at the background looks like a tent with all the food supplies. hahah. Jingting and I in a corny pose. HAHA. Perlin and Poh Suan were helping a little boy to get this rugby ball out of the tree. YAY! mission accomplished. We made shui jiao for dinner from the scratch with flour, water, minced pork, spring onions, radish. So proud of ourselves pls! *claps* Made alot so that we can boil it when we are hungry. Perlin, Jing Ting, Qiao Fei, Wing Him (the girl we got to know in Australia), Me, Poh Suan. Unilink MasterChefs! Watched the finale of 'MasterChef' on tv today. Poh lost to Julie! We are NOT HAPPY with the results. HAHA. and I think we prefer to live in self-denial. We just refused to acknowledge the fact that Julie deserve to be Australian First MasterChef and we came up with an excuse that they just hate Asians. HAHA. just kidding. Okay, my friends are calling me to watch Boys Over Flowers now. AND, we managed to convince Poh Suan to watch with us! omg. haha. OK BYE. Saturday, July 18, 2009 Y 9:24 PM well, I know I can't have the best of both worlds. It's really beautiful here, perfect weather and great air. But it's soooooo boring! I bet city girls like me can't stand the slow pace of Australia. It's just.... sssslllloooowwwww. DO YOU KNOW THAT... 1. In Brisbane, their shops close at 5pm? 2. They only extend their hours to 9pm on Thursday? 3. On Sunday, there is no bus service in Ipswich? 4. A 15 minute cab ride can cost up to SG$28? 5. You can see lots of stars over here at night? 6. You can see horses chewing grass on a field next to my house? And I have no idea why I'm always hungry here. According to my friends, it is normal to feel hungry easily during winter. zzz. I can only say that my tummy is damn jian, because I secretly think it just wanna eat expensive food. Oh ya, food is damn expensive here. A meal in a food court can easily cost up to SG$8 to $10. Oh yes, and the locals here are really proud of their largest shopping mall, which is 1/3 of Causeway Point. zzz. If I need to do some serious shopping, I will need to take a train to Brisbane City. Born a city girl, die a city girl. It's not very far away from Ipswich, but public transportation is screaming expensive too. On the other hand, it's good to relax and slow down my hectic life. I think living in Australia can help to extend your life. Oh, and I saw a dead FROZEN frog 2 days ago. Serve it right for hopping around during winter. I hope all frogs can just die and leave me alone. Anyway, I got a shock when I saw it from a distance, and I burst out crying. I want, I need, I have to get rid of this phobia NOW. otherwise I think I won't be able to survive spring and autumn here, when froggies find it really comfortable to hop around. One funny incident. My friends and I were trying to thaw a piece of meat that day. After several failed attempts to soak that rockhard stuff in hot water, we decided to stick it into the microwave for 30 seconds. Shortly, smoke started coming out of the microwave and we saw a small fire inside! Everyone started to open windows and the main door, hoping to give the smoke outlets to disperse. And... THE FIRE ALARM IN OUR HOUSE WENT OFF. LIKE DAMN DAMN LOUD. Well, I guess it was a blessing in disguise because this was quite a good ice breaking incident because neighbours came running to our house to check things out. So freaking funny. Luckily the alarm is not connected the the fire station. Otherwise... omg... Oh yeah, and we tried to save money by cooking dinner everyday. Tasteless soups, soggy porridge, uncooked potatos, wet rice, overcooked vegetables.... hahaha. but it is really fun to cook together in a group. We are improving day by day! (: Had curry chicken yesterday and it was really good! Alrighty, tired already. it's 11:45pm now in Aussie. Love to all. Good night. Friday, July 17, 2009 Y 8:22 PM A picture speaks a thousand words. I got tonnes of pictures (: Unilink Village - here is where I'm staying (: The golf course we have to cross everyday to get to school. Perlin Tay Mun Ling. haha. she's really funny. our school library. OK. very tired now. bye. Tuesday, July 07, 2009 Y 12:34 PM sometimes I just need a quiet moment to write down some feelings because I strongly believe that one can only reflect about life, set goals, and rejuvenate the soul when one's mind is at peace and a slower pace. and how the hell you know what I was doing? I was writing a letter to you, for god's sake. because I can't get the flow in the day because of my hectic schedule... and yeah, you ruined it yourself. forget it. walked out because didn't wanna spoil that moment arguing with you. I don't do that to the others because they don't do what you do! but well, you still made it somehow. I couldn't continue, so I deleted it. I seriously can't be bothered now. I don't even want to bother to explain. What for? Now, you are getting what you have been wishing for. |
